“Cause of Belly Fat” will show you the reason why especially woman 40+ need to know about. The tile of a book, “Don’t eat wheat!” caught my eye in a bookstore in Tokyo. I became more aware of how wheat grown today, can have negative effects on human beings by the time I finished reading the book. This is very important for woman40+ because we are loosing the strength of burning fat.
The author, Dr. William Davis (MD), who is a cardiologist, has an interesting approach to prevent and cure heart disease with a unique diet… by eliminating wheat from one’s diet. He has a point. The reason is unnatural wheat has been created by companies that focus on only profits over the years. The wheat becomes our horror…
Why is Wheat Harmful?
Those yummy cakes, cookies, bread, sauce…. When you start looking ingredients on the packages, wheat is everywhere… Fear GMO foods! GMO wheat (Genetically Modified Organism wheat) causes so much damage to your body. GMO wheat increases insulin, which causes various health problems such as; high blood pressure; obesity; diabetes; heart disease; organ, brain, joint, and breathing problems and more…This sounds so bad for us because we are already warned these illness because of lack of hormone.
5 Main Negative Effects Caused by Eating Wheat are
First, Addictive Like Heroin
Who thought wheat is addictive! Research shows that wheat can be as addictive as heroin or morphine. One reason is that, polypeptides (short proteins) called exorphins in wheat, travels through the blood brain barrier. Then, the exporphines combine with the opioid in the brain. Due to this process, it is suggested that wheat may be addictive.
Beer belly? It makes sense, isn’t it! Wheat also has a secret of releasing happy hormones that increases your appetite. It makes you want wheat products more and more, just like drug!
Second, Saves Toxic Fat
Keep your insulin down! Your body save toxic fat around your internal organs if blood-sugar level high. The insulin will go up when estrogen goes down. So this conbination makes your belly even fatter! This belly fat will lead to not only diabetes, but will also increase your risks of having dementia, rheumatism and cancer. Control insulin is one of the key for lose weight which is also apply for controling menopausal weight gain.
Third, Nervous Disorders
Those yummy bread cause dementia? According to research, there is an evident connection between wheat and the causes of dementia, as well as other damages to your body. This includes; brain damage, which impairs your movement and balance, triggers your loss of memory and words…
Fourth, Aging Faster
Again, “Keep Your Insulin Down!” Eating wheat makes you age faster as it creates more insulin and sugar in your body and losing estrogen will increase insulin. This double whammy will makes AGE (Advanced glycation end products) in your body. The more wheat you have, the faster you age! However, there is a way to keep insulin down. We will talk about it later.
Be aware of wheat if you have celiac disease! Gluten consumption increases the risk of depression and anxiety for celiac patients. Currently, there is no formal study done between the connection of gluten and depression for non-celiac people yet, but I’ll keep you up to date with that information.
How to Reduce Belly Fat?
So, wheat is bad! According to Dr. Davis, the consumption of wheat causes heart diseases. It causes higher blood sugar, blood pressure, and triglycerides that lead to heart diseases.
So, the first step we do is to check foods that you purchase thoroughly, and avoid all GMO foods. You will be quite surprised, just how many GMO foods are in the shops!
Dr. Davis’ suggestions are to eliminate or to limit your self in eating foods such as; foods containing any grains, cornstarch, or corn meal; certain types of potatoes; beans; fruit juices and sodas; dried fruits; deep-fried foods; and even gluten free products as they contain starches instead of gluten. Any kind of snack should also be avoided.
He says to eat more vegetables; fruits (in small portions); raw nuts (unsalted); seeds; seafood; meats; eggs; and dairy products. He also says to consume good/healthy oils, and non-sugar condiments and sauces.
Ummm…sounds a little bit extreme to me. There are many 90 years old who are healthy and happy. What do they do? Is there any way I can reduce my belly fat with wheat and grains?
The Bottom Line …
It seems to avoid GMO foods and eating excess amounts of wheat and grains (even organic) would ultimately cause belly fat for sure. I agree with Dr. Davis that cutting how much you eat wheat and grains will help lose weight.
However, I feel eliminating one food group from a diet is too extreme. Being healthy is all about balance! Balancing your health differ from one person to another. In order to live a healthy life, you need to have a balanced diet as well as an adequate amount of exercise, controlling the quality of sleep and managing the stress level.
I love moderation. Eat wheat and grains in moderation will not harm you. The traditional Japanese diet which is base on rice has the one of longevity country in the world. Enjoy moderation of bread, pasta, rice and sometime sweets and be happy!
